Would you like to invite the Samichlaus and his Schmutzlis to your home, club or company? Here is how a home visit works.
What happens during a visit
The Samichlaus wears a bishop’s robe and is accompanied by two dark-clad companions, the Schmutzlis. He speaks Swiss German and standard German, and English on request. Between mid-November and mid-December he tours the Zug region, visiting families as well as club and company events.
Our association is based in the Gut Hirt neighbourhood of Zug. On request we also visit families and clubs beyond the neighbourhood, across the whole canton – for visits outside the canton, travel expenses are charged in addition.
Registration period 2026
- Registration opens on 10 October 2026.
- Registration deadline for home visits: 15 November 2026.
- Family visits take place: 28 November – 13 December 2026.
- Visits for clubs, companies etc.: 21 November – 13 December 2026.
We are happy to receive your request at any time and will reply promptly.
English-language procession
The Samichlaus also speaks English on request. The public St. Nicholas procession in English takes place the day after the German-language procession – see the Dates page for details.
